George Parker was a well known concert baritone soloist in the years from 1920 -1960. He was invited to sing with the Falmouth Opera Group by Roseland resident musicians the Radford Sisters (Maisie and Evelyn). and for many years thereafter was a regular visitor to Cornwall with his family. The story of the first UK performance of Mozart's Idomeneo and other baroque operats in Falmouth at the Polytechic is told in the Radford Sisters published account "Musical Adventures in Cornwall". George's family settled on the Roseland and also at Callestick Farm north of Truro. The family has made a gift to the Society for a series to support young emerging professional singers to give a regular recital in the Roseland Music Society Series.
