SUMMARY:Will Prior (countertenor) and Alfred Fardell (piano) in Concert
DESCRIPTION:This is the inaugural recital in "The George Parker Memorial So
 ng Recital".  Will Prior is a new young champion of the countertenor voic
 e will present a concert which demonstrates the wonderful colour and regis
 ter of the countertenor voice..  Will  won the Inaugural Dame Janet Bake
 r Award\, is a Brtten Pears young artist and Countess of Munster young rec
 italist.  \n\nThe programme explores Enlgish and German song  thorugh t
 he poetry of Shakespeare and Heine\, with further additions from Frank Bri
 dge\, Thomas Campion and Rebecca Clark\n\n\nGeorge Parker was a well known
  concert baritone soloist in the years from 1920 -1960.  He was invited t
 o sing with the Falmouth Opera Group by Roseland resident musicians the Ra
 dford Sisters (Maisie and Evelyn). and for many years thereafter was a reg
 ular visitor to Cornwall with his family.   The story of the first UK pe
 rformance of Mozart's Idomeneo and other baroque operats in Falmouth at th
 e Polytechic is told in the Radford Sisters published account "Musical Adv
 entures in Cornwall".  George's family settled on the Roseland and also a
 t Callestick Farm north of Truro.  The family has made a gift to the Soci
 ety for a series to support young emerging professional singers to give a 
 regular recital in the Roseland Music Society Series. \n\nConcert support
